Howdy ladies and gents! Well, I've been living down in Newmarket, NH, next to the studio where we will start tracking for a new album in ONE WEEK (holy shit). It is going to well....I want to show you all and post the demos I've been doing, but wouldn't that ruin the surprise? Indeed.
But for a sneak preview, I'll be playing some new tunes at my solo shows this week and next, tomorrow, September the 22nd at the Red Door for the Hush Hush series. This is always my favorite gig, because Red Door has cool vibes and people come to *gasp* listen to the music. What a concept.
The new album will be like the first sip of a cup of coffee on a fall day in new england, with the leaves all different colors and the breeze just enough to make you think that maybe there is a god, or like, some kind of ghost-being that maybe isn't infallible, but just gets to make decisions or at least make the breeze in an autumn day.
How does that sound? Terrible? Well, it won't be I promise. Well, it might be...but I am literally pouring my heart and soul into this record. More than grey town, more than deadweight, this new record is going to be like streamline to awesome-town.
I miss you though,

Roy Davis & The Dregs have sad news and exciting news. The sad news: Grey Town is going out of print. While it will be available online for a limited time, you should all buy your hard copies now, because there is a limited supply left and there will not be more. While Grey Town is certainly one of RD& The Dregs children, it is the disobedient child that they love less, even though they would never say that to him.
Secondly and more importantly, tracking for a BRAND SPANKING NEW album is set to begin soon. We know, it feels like Deadweight just came out, doesn't it? Well...this is just the announcement, the album will not be released until after Winter is over, because winter sucks and nobody wants to associate a work of beauty with the hell that is Maine winter. Here's the scoop:
Roy is going to live in an undisclosed secluded location and focus all his attenion on this new album, for the next few months. You will not see him drinking gross cheap beer at fancy bars, or eating delicious treats at Portland hotspots. Other than the occasional show, which you should come to, Roy will be a no-show. Sometimes, in life, you have to do things right, the way you want them to be done. We, the dregs, will be joining him in the entire process, while still trying to maintain our lives. He has no life. Life is meaningless. Have you heard that Pedro The Lion song that goes: "Wouldn't it be nice if life were meaningless? But everything is so meaningful and most everything turns to shit." Pretty cool song. Regardless, I hope you are excited, because we think the result of these actions will please you to no end. Sincerely,
The Dregs.

The tour van Betsy rolled into Porland late last night. Whether she was enlightened or horrified by what she saw for the last ten days, only god knows. She was definitely a good girl and made the whole trip without a worry.
To hear Roy's thoughts on the tour, head over to the tour blog at www.roydavisandthedregs.blogspot.com.

Hey dogbreaths and baby carrots! I am happy to be alive today. Which is rare, usually live is just a way to pass time between X-Files episodes for me. We got a new review in NE Performer this month. They dig it! People still dig it. Do you?
You can head on over to our press section or their website (http://www.performermag.com/ and click on NORTHEAST, then RECORDED REVIEWS). Some highlights here:
"If Modest Mouse mellowed down a bit and blued-out their sound, the result would be similar to the sound of Dead Weight - a little downhearted, a little uptempo and at its heart, almost painfully human"
Yes yes, I like what you've done here. Wayne's world? No one?
"While they tread lightly on the current alt-country sound being popularized by groups Three Day Threshold and Girls, Guns & Glory, there seems to be less emphasis on vocal character and more on overall tone for this group. Rather, his voice gains personality through its understated air."
Go on...
Also, this is going to be in all caps because I mean it: HUGE SHOW IN BOSTON FRIDAY NIGHT FOR THE FOURTH OF JULY!!! BRING YOUR BEST FRIEND'S GIRLFRIEND, WE WONT TELL!
Please stay in touch with me, babies. I miss hearing your voices when I go too long without someone popping in to the myspace or via email to say hello and chat about band news/life news/politics.
See you soooooooon!

Hey peoples! Our tour is coming right up in a few weeks. Plans have been laid, preparations made, coffee brewed, granola bars packed, guitars tuned, amplifiers turned to 11, jeans ripped, weed hidden in CD cases...um...songs written?
Anyway, we are stoked. We're getting great responses from folks all over the cities along the way, so I think we're gonna have a blast and meet some cool new people.
If you live in a city we're coming to and want to volunteer to help us out by spreading the word or putting up some flyers, drop me a line and I'll get you the poster and give you a free CD.
Watch out America, here we come! Wish us luck...

Hey boys and girls! It has been too long since an update on here, though for those of you lucky to follow our myspace page, there has been lots of news and blogs and junk. I will try my best to keep the websites in the same place.
Check it out, Deadweight made the reputable Americana hotshot Hickory Wind's Top Seven list! Baaaaaad-ass. Looky:

So, anyone who's been to our shows or heard our radio/TV appearances may have noticed...but I thought I would make the announcement on the websites here:
Bernie, my closest friend and cosmic brother, has parted ways as the Dregs' bassist. We love him very much, and he will always be a driving creative force to us...that force is so strong that he just needs to forge his own path. Someone as brilliant as he deserves to be out on his own, making his own music with his own vision.
That said, we're so stoked to have played the last couple shows with Justin Maxwell (formerly of the Coming Grass, Travis Kline, and other badass projects). Not only is he a killer bassist, but super cool dude and a perfect fit for our journey as a band.
Also, I never announced it officially, but JEFF BEAM has signed on as our permanent lead guitarist. Jeff Beam rocks. This announcement is a long ways late, because Jeff has been playing with us for months and months now, but hey, better late than never. We love him.
That makes it Justin, Jeff, Kerry, and myself. We are deliciously compatible as musicians and pals. I cannot wait to tour with these guys, it's going to be a wild ride.
This lineup is rock solid, I'm stoked to work with these guys for the whole ride. Through all the record deals, drug habits, women, wine, fist fights, eventual self-destruction and reunion tour when we're all in our 50's.
Peace y'all,
Roy

It's nearly here. Finally the folks who dig RD&DREGS, but have never been able to make it to New England for a show will have the chance. Check in and see if we're coming to your city! Dates in NYC, Phildelphia, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Tennessee have been booked.
We're gonna rock down to electric avenue. Should we cover that song? No, too ridiculous. Stay tuned for more info and a road blog, videos, lots of stupidly exciting shit.
Local dopes: May 30th at The Empire, and June 1st at Old Port Festival!
I love you with all of my tiny black pitiless shrunken heart. Slurp,

Whoa nelly! open the flood gates...reviews from The Portland Phoenix, Hickory Winds, songs: illois, Miles of Music, and Americana UK have all been published. All can be seen on their web pages and our Press Section. | Apr 10, 2008 |

Holy shit! After months of work and worrying, the album is finally and gloriously on sale for you to purchase at CDBaby, Miles of Music, and Bullmoose locations.
The absolute best place to buy it is to come to one of our CD release extravanganza's. For those south of say...York, Maine...there is the seacoast release at The Press Room April 11th. For anyone north of that, OR anyone who wants a special night, one that will be forever etched into your brain, then come to THE ASYLUM this saturday, APRIL 12th! It's going to be the wildest experience you've ever had.
Buy the CD! We worked really hard on it, and are so proud of the results, we can barely contain our excitement. This is by far our finest work...we like it better than our children. Just kidding, we don't have children, we're only 22 goddamit! Leave us alone about having kids!
